Unemployment Benefit Simulator Switzerland
Estimate your unemployment insurance daily allowances based on your last salary, family situation and contribution period. Calculation based on the Federal Act on Compulsory Unemployment Insurance (AVIG) in force in 2026.
How Swiss unemployment benefits work
Unemployment daily allowances (Taggelder / indemnités journalières) are calculated on the basis of insured earnings, which correspond to the relevant gross salary capped at CHF 12,350 per month (CHF 148,200 annually). Insured earnings are the average salary received during the last 6 or 12 months of contribution-paying activity.
The compensation rate is 80% for insured persons with maintenance obligations (tax-recognised dependent children) or whose insured earnings do not exceed CHF 3,797 per month. For everyone else, the rate is 70%. The daily allowance corresponds to 1/21.7 of the monthly benefit (the coefficient 21.7 represents the average number of working days per month).
Maximum duration of benefits
- 12 contribution months: maximum 200 daily allowances.
- 18 contribution months: maximum 260 daily allowances.
- 22 contribution months, under 55: maximum 400 daily allowances.
- 22 contribution months, 55 or over: maximum 520 daily allowances.
